As a people person, my work is about personal stories, emotions and the human connections that make the world go round. Through my photographic practice I aim to create meaningful links between people and the worlds' they inhabit – depicting personal stories that matter.
I work across digital and analogue cameras and shoot all my subjects in their own spaces. Working with the Canon r5 gives me flexibility and an ability to work at speed, whilst my work with medium format analogue cameras help the shoot to slow down and build stronger connections between the people I photograph. Influenced by the work of a number of contemporary documentary photographers and artists, including Dana Lixenberg and Sharon Lockhart, I am exploring constructed reality and how this can shape the narratives we choose, or are asked, to tell. I am particularly interested in how perspective can best be used to make us feel part of the story we see before us.
Current commercial work includes comissions for personal branding photography for professionals seeking imagery for their websites and public relations purposes. I have also worked with leading brands including craft brewers Brew Dog, the premiuim electric vehicle company Genesis, the designer boutique Caroline Gardner and Transport For London for my dog photography.
My latest series ‘People and their Passions’ seeks to reveal my subjects core values and to photograph them doing what they love. From different backgrounds and with diverse passions, this series gets us one step closer to knowing who these people really are and helps us form a connection to their lives.
