Lessons in Love is a body of work which focuses on love retrospectively, asking what people have learnt about love in their life time. The project adds both value and volume to the voices and experiences of older people, who are often overlooked in such a technologically driven, fast based, youth centred environment that many encounter today.
Produced in collaboration with the charity AGE UK Camden, we worked together to create an environment of trust and openness for all those who participated. Extracts from these interviews are placed alongside their portraits in the book. Working in black and white and in a studio setting, unified the sitters in many ways, enabling me to focus on the individual and their unique voice.
